The Daughters of REDEEM With God
My ultimate purpose in returning to Kenya was to build deeper relationships with the daughters here. My deepest desire is to see them all walk into powerful relationships with our Father. On Tuesday, January 3, I began working with my girls.
I thought it best for us to study the book of Esther during this month since Esther was an orphan who God used in a mighty way. I thought I was here to teach them, but boy are they teaching me.
Each day as we study, we do the following:
Listening Prayer - Not just speaking but quieting ourselves before the Lord to hear what He wants to speak to us. Integrative Study- As we look through the passages, we study the culture of the people and see how the Lord is speaking to us through the Word.
Applicative Arts - Once we have grasped an understanding of the passage, we show that we understand the material in the following ways:
Music - Singing and dancing to a song that carries the same message
Creative Writing - Free write whatever thoughts are coming to you in poetic form, as an argument, short story, play, interview, article or anything
Speech - Get on stage and perform a skit, spoken word, song, monologue, case or anything to present the material. Photography - Once we've finished our lesson and performances, we enjoy nature and use it as designs for our background. We then laugh, smile, jump or whatever we are feeling and snap photos.
I've really seen these girls grow over the last three meeting days. They have commented on how free they feel to be vulnerable with me. I love how God uses expressions of art to reach the hearts of people!
