Heart Beat of Kenya
In an effort to impact the lives of the orphans of Intreach Ukombozi, and to raise support for the missionaries headed to serve them, REDEEM WIth God hosted Heart Beat, an artistic production, on April 28th and 29th. This production included live art, music, dance, drama, poetry, spoken word and the beat of a drum.
Heartbeats are the noises generated by the beating heart and the flow of blood through it (specifically, the turbulence created when the heart valves snap shut). An examiner uses a stethoscope to listen for these unique and distinct sounds that provide important data regarding the condition of the heart.
The heart of the production were the girls and boys of Kisumu, Kenya. Their arising turbulent beat stems from abuse, forced early marriages, poverty, untimely death of parents and stress of test scores. Serving in Kenya, we are the examiners using our artistic gifts as stethoscopes to learn the condition of these orphans' hearts.
The prescription of this production involves our audience. We can not steady the beat alone. By helping us educate the chaotic beat of the heart, we will put a stop to the AIDS/HIV epidemic in Kenya.
