Performing Arts ...
Ruth's Story - by Elizabeth Shaw
Elizabeth Shaw should be the poster child of any performing art for she embodies the spectacular ability of drawing the undivided attention of both old and young. Like Elizabeth, the volunteers who serve our projects near and far enjoy singing, dancing, acting and spoken word. Several would admit to you that these areas of performing arts may not be their strength but when they willingly step out on the "platform" a boldness overcomes them. Enjoy the following videos and anticipate the day you to will be viewed on our site.
IMPROMPTU Mary - by Elizabeth Shaw
Elizabeth was a GREAT asset to have on our team the early part of this year. There's one particular day I'll never forget. It was our last program day for St. Mary's Kibuye Girls Primary School in Kisumu, Kenya. For over a week we had built relationships with the students of that school. For the final lesson we discussed Mary, the mother of Jesus. Elizabeth was to sing the song popularized by Amy Grant, "Breath of Heaven." Just as she was about to perform her song, I pulled her to the side and said, "There's been a change of plans. I no longer want you to sing. I believe you are supposed to be Mary." I'm always telling my girls to be flexible. Elizabeth was. She went with the flow and spoke from her heart. Don't skip a beat. This girl is the next ELIZABETH SHAW.... Can't even compare her to anyone! BEAUTIFUL!
